Rkatsiteli is a grape variety that is originally from the country of Georgia and grows exceptionally well in New England’s cooler climate. With an engaging nose of pink bubblegum, apple spice, and ripe pear, it is incredibly quaffable, with flavors that develop in complexity the longer it sits in your glass. Dry and lean, the bright citrus, apple and pear flavors lead to a crisp finish. This is always one of our most popular wines. We’ve been growing Rkats since 1988. It ripens late, we annually finish up our harvest with this fruit. Our original vines came from Walter Volz, Konstantine Frank’s son in law. The Frank’s own Vinifera Wine Cellars in Hammondsport NY, right up the hill from where Max Grifenhagen’s Germainia Wine Cellars existed until the 1920’s. As many of you know, Max was Carol Russell’s grandfather.
