"No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" - Mixed Media by Cathleen "CB” Bradley

This piece is entitled "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" and is created by Sudbury artist, Cathleen E. Bradley.  It measures 24" x 72" and is framed in vintage farmhouse screen door frame, original hardware and fragments of discarded books and ephemera.

In CB's words:  "Doorways, like books, are passageways to places.  Some are narrow, some require invitation or membership, some need passwords or keys.  Some are mysterious ... some lead to new worlds, offer fantasy, education or perplexing realities.

The origin of the title came about in the late 1960s, having ties to the Civil Rights movement and also the counterculture movement.  Its intent was another way to keep certain people marginalized. It was never proven as a legal hygiene issue."
