Catherine Carter is an abstract painter who uses acrylic, paper and fabric to explore the possibilities of line. The elaborate designs in her collages refer to calligraphic marks, textile weaves, and patterns in nature such as branches and root systems. With a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, she works from her studio at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford, MA. Catherine has displayed her paintings in museums and galleries across the United States as well as internationally. Her exhibits have been reviewed in the Boston Globe, the Providence Journal, and Art New England. Her artwork is held in public, corporate, hospitality, and private collections. Additionally, she has curated eight group exhibits in museum and college gallery settings throughout her career.
